Every family in Michigan including Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, and Mount Pleasant understands what a midwife's value is and has the option of a midwife in their own community. We continually train new midwives and put education about choices in front line of decision making around pregnancy and home birth services.
I wanted to be a midwife my entire life and care for women during pregnancy including home birth services. By having three prior home births and running past midwifery practices, I completely understand the power of normal birth has on a family's foundation! I have been a Certified Nurse Midwife since 2012 and been part of birth world since 2008. By practicing in all birth settings (hospital, birth center, and home), I truly appreciate each setting's strengths and options to help families make best decision for them. Midwives support women and their families to make sound decision for their care. Birth is a normal process and many women are most comfortable birthing in their home including surrounding areas of Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, and Mount Pleasant. We are privileged to see instinctual birth that is rarely seen in a hospital setting. When women are given a supportive, safe environment, birth usually goes very smoothly. I am very honored to be helping women in this amazing community have options for personalized childbirth.
I am very excited to be working with Mid Michigan Midwifery. I have a unique birth background to really understand all the different ways women can choose to birth their babies. I have had my three children in all three birth settings: hospital, birth center, and my last at home. I began learning about fertility, birth, and midwifery during my first pregnancy, which set me on a path to where I am today. It didn't take long before I began to pursue a life surrounded by birth: first training as a birth doula with DONA international, then a midwife assistant in 2016 and a HypnoBirthing childbirth educator in 2017, and now as a student midwife. I am blessed to have been able to work with diverse families in a variety of settings and to witness the extraordinary power of birth so many times. I am so excited to be working alongside such a skilled midwife as we help families birth their babies, unhindered, in the peace and calm of their home.
